Family Day Long Weekend Guide to Local Fun!

The beginning of the year can be a hectic time for everyone, but the Family Day long weekend is the perfect change to spend some quality time together with your kids. There’s lots of fun activities going on both indoors and outdoors that the whole family can enjoy. Here are some of our favourites:

 

Ajax Winterfest

Free admission! Enjoy the winter season with your family at the Town of Ajax’s Family Day Winterfest! Located at the Audley Recreation Centre, families will enjoy winter themed activities including: ice painting, making delicious s’mores, horse drawn wagon rides in the snow, and more! There will be live entertainment throughout the day, food vendors, and community group displays. Nominal fees apply for food.

Ceramics Canada

Creativity for all ages and all abilities. Choose from ceramic or pottery painting, glass fusing, or hand building with clay. Walk-ins welcome!

Rouge Valley Conservation Area

Family Day weekend crafts, hikes and activities on February 18th, 19th and 20th from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Bird hikes:

Feb 18th, 19th, 20th

Starting at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Join us for a hike through the Rouge to see what winter birds can be discovered in the Valley. Learn about some of their identification features, as well as behaviours, and generally how they survive the winter months.

You must REGISTER to participate in these hikes. Please email info@rvcc.ca if you would like to take part in these hikes. Please include your name, number of participants and a phone number where you can be reached in case we need to cancel.

Family Day Activities:

Feb 18th, 19th, 20th

10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Come and see who’s at our feeding stations, participate in one of our fun family activities or drop in and make some bird crafts and learn about the birds of the Rouge. Take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count! Tally sheets will be available for anyone who would like to participate.

 

Winter WonderLearn

Drop in; no registration required. This Family Day, your family can enjoy a free day of fun at a festival designed to get you active, learn something new, and enjoy time together.
